Step-by-Step Guide to Integrate Moodle with Certopus

Follow simple steps to integrate Moodle with Certopus and automate certificate generation, issuance, and delivery for your courses.

  1. Obtain Certopus LTI Credentials:

  2. Configure LTI Tool in Moodle:

    • In Moodle, go to Site Administration > Plugins > Activity Modules > External Tool > Manage Tools.

    • Click Add Legacy LTI Tool.

    • Paste the Install URL (XML) into the Tool URL field.

    • Enter the Consumer Key and Shared Secret in their respective fields.

    • Save changes.

    • Make sure the Certopus app is visible under the tools section

  3. Enable Certopus in a Course:

    • Navigate to your Moodle course and enable Edit Mode.

    • Click Add an activity or resource and select External Tool.

  4. Set Up External Tool Activity:

    • Provide a name for the activity (e.g., "Certopus Credentials").

    • From the Preconfigured Tool dropdown, select Certopus.

    • Ensure the Consumer Key and Shared Secret fields auto-populate.

    • Click Save and Display.

  5. Map Events and Categories:

    • In Certopus, map Moodle course events (e.g., course completion) to Certopus recipient categories.

    • Example:

      • Event: Managed Economics

      • Category: Competition

  6. Configure Credential Design:

    • In Certopus, select a certificate template under Credential Design.

Enable Auto Publish to automate certificate issuance upon course completion.
